In November 2025, the Office of Admissions at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) announced the results of the selection for the “Outstanding Individual in Undergraduate Admissions Work 2025.” Assistant Professor and doctoral supervisor Dr. Bin Ye from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering was honorably included on the list. Dr. Ye regards “striving to recruit outstanding students and doing my utmost to cultivate them into excellent graduates” as his personal motto, which also reflects his lifelong pursuit as an educator.

As a young faculty member committed to both research and teaching, Dr. Ye actively devoted himself to undergraduate admissions work over the past year. Together with colleagues from SUSTech’s Shanxi Admissions Team, he traveled across Shanxi for several consecutive days to participate in undergraduate recruitment activities. Upon noticing a shortage of personnel in the Hubei Admissions Team, Dr. Ye, after completing the Shanxi recruitment work, unhesitatingly joined the team to support admissions efforts in Hubei.
With solid professional expertise, innovative outreach methods, and a sincere service attitude, Dr. Ye worked diligently to help the university attract outstanding undergraduates. His recognition as an “Outstanding Individual in Undergraduate Admissions Work 2025” is not only an affirmation of his contributions on the frontline of admissions, but also the best embodiment of SUSTech’s admissions philosophy of being “precise, efficient, and warm.” It further demonstrates the responsibility of SUSTech faculty members to “cultivate character before imparting knowledge.”

In his admissions outreach, Dr. Ye emphasizes communicating through data and facts. He conducted in-depth analyses of historical admissions data to develop tailored outreach strategies. During recruitment events, he patiently addressed questions from prospective students and parents regarding academic programs, training models, and career prospects, which earned him high praise from both students and families. “Admissions is not only about selecting students—it is also about conveying SUSTech’s educational philosophy and humanistic care,” Dr. Ye noted. He consistently follows a student-centered approach, treating every applicant as a potential future research partner. He often replies to inquiry emails from students and parents late at night, offering detailed and thoughtful responses to each question, demonstrating through action the responsibility and warmth of SUSTech faculty.
Dr. Ye has not only achieved notable research accomplishments but has also shown strong organizational and coordination abilities, as well as a deep commitment to service in admissions work. He approaches admissions with the mindset of a researcher and provides service with the compassion of an educator, making significant contributions to talent recruitment for both the school and the university.
Receiving the title of “Outstanding Individual in Undergraduate Admissions Work 2025” affirms Dr. Ye’s contributions and also serves as encouragement for all admissions staff at SUSTech. Looking ahead, Dr. Ye will continue to devote himself with enthusiasm and professionalism to the university’s admissions and talent cultivation endeavors, contributing further to SUSTech’s development into a world-class research university.
