简体中文 The results of the National Scholarship for Master's Students in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology were announced recently. Yu Zhe, a 2023 master's student from Ye Bin's research group, was awarded the National Scholarship for Master's Students in the School of Environment. He is also the only recipient of the National Scholarship among more than 80 master's students in the School of Environment in 2023.
Yu Zhe, male, a member of the Communist Party of China, is a Master's student in Geophysics at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, Class of 2023. He studied under Assistant Professor Ye Bin and his research focuses on environmental planning and energy economics. He has achieved a series of achievements in professional learning, scientific research innovation, cultural and sports activities.
1、 Work hard and achieve excellent results
Yu Zhe is diligent and hardworking in his studies. He has achieved excellent grades in all his major courses and have been awarded the Special Prize of the 2023 Graduate Academic Scholarship and the Special Prize of the 2024 Graduate Academic Scholarship by Southern University of Science and Technology. In his spare time, Yu Zhe actively participates in academic lectures organized by various schools and colleges, listens to cutting-edge ideas from experts, understands the current situation of the "dual carbon" action, and continuously improves his academic comprehensive literacy.
2、 Focus on scientific research and immerse oneself in academia
Yu Zhe is diligent in thinking and writing, striving to improve his writing skills. During his first year of graduate school, with the help of his supervisor Ye Bin, he published three academic papers: (1) Environmental and Economic Evaluation of Urban Building Integrated Photovoltaic and Electric Vehicle System, Journal of Building Engineering (IF: 6.7, JCR: Q1), as the first author; （2）Technical and economic study of renewable-energy-powered system for a newly constructed city in China，Energy Reports(IF:4.7，JCR:Q2)， The third author; (3) 中国火电行业碳排放的时空演变与驱动因素分析，Environmental Pollution and Prevention and Control(Comprehensive influencing factor: 1.326, core of Peking University), corresponding author and second author, accepted and awaiting publication arrangement. He has published 2 conference papers publicly, both included in Energy Proceedings. In addition, currently submitting one article to the journal: (1) Energy Economic Environment Evaluation of Building Integrated Photovoltaic and Electric Vehicle Integration for Representative Cities in China, submitted to Applied Energy as the first author.
Yu Zhe believes that academic paper writing and research on academic topics can not only enhance the initiative and consciousness of learning, but also cultivate the ability to discover and analyze problems, strive to learn cutting-edge knowledge in the field, and become an excellent graduate student with ideals, pursuits, and a love for hard work.
3、 Attend meetings and have the courage to communicate
In terms of academic exchange, Yu Zhe participated in the 10th International Symposium on Applied Energy: Low Carbon Cities and Urban Energy Systems (CUE2024, Class B Conference) under the leadership of Professor Ye Bin. At the "Energy Management, Policy and Economics" sub session, he shared the research results on "Environmental and Economic Evaluation of Urban Building Integrated Photovoltaic and Electric Vehicle System", elaborating on the background, methods, findings, and potential impacts of the study. After the report, Yu Zhe patiently answered the questions raised by the attending experts and scholars, including key issues such as the feasibility of technology implementation, cost-benefit analysis, and policy support needs. The conference journal was recommended to high-level journals such as Applied Energy and Advances in Applied Energy.
Yu Zhe believes that participating in international academic conferences is a valuable experience of self-expression and academic exploration. It not only provides us with a platform to gain insights into the latest developments in academia, but also an excellent opportunity to meet outstanding students and professors. Each participant is a leader in their respective research field, and their experience and insights are extremely valuable learning resources for us. In our interactions with them, we often gain new perspectives and innovative ideas.
4、 Integrating culture and style, expanding oneself
Yu Zhe is diligent in showcasing himself and has achieved three blooms in stylistics. Not only have they achieved outstanding achievements in the academic field, but they have also demonstrated outstanding talents in sports competition. In the long jump competition of the Southern University of Science and Technology Athletics Games, Yu Zhe won the long jump championship with his outstanding athletic ability and firm competitive spirit. His achievement is a vivid embodiment of the spirit of the Southern University of Science and Technology's motto of "seeking truth through virtue and self-improvement through innovation", and also a powerful proof of his comprehensive personal development.
In terms of cultural and sports activities, Yu Zhe has participated in artistic performances multiple times and served as the lead singer of the "Red Seal Band", releasing scientific research pressure through music and conveying positive energy and emotional resonance through music.
Yu Zhe said, "I will continue to broaden my knowledge, move forward on the path of scientific research and academia, and continue to expand myself. I will work harder, apply what I have learned, and provide my own strength for China to achieve its' dual carbon 'goals.
