\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0On May 7, graduate students enrolled in the course \u201cClimate Change Economics\u201d offered by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), under the guidance of course instructor Ye Bin, travelled to Zhongshan City to conduct a field study at Mingyang Smart Energy Group Limited. Mingyang Smart Energy, a global provider of integrated clean-energy solutions, is committed to the green, inclusive and intelligent development of energy. Its core businesses are wind and solar power industries. The company ranks 40th among the Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises and 1st in global offshore wind innovation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0After a two-hour drive, the SUSTech group arrived at Mingyang\u2019s headquarters at 10:30 a.m. and was warmly welcomed by Vice President and Office Committee Secretary Yi Lingna, Chairman\u2019s Assistant Wen Hong, Executive General Manager of Human Resources Shi Wenyan, Deputy Director of Strategy & Sustainability Huang Jingwen, and Deputy General Manager of Marketing & Solutions and Director of Market Development Yan Fang.<\/p>\n\t

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Engineers from relevant divisions led the teachers and students on a tour of the wind-turbine manufacturing park, explaining the company\u2019s globally leading wind-turbine models and advanced solar-cell technologies used on satellites. Detailed answers were provided to questions raised by faculty and students. Subsequently, the SUSTech delegation visited the Group\u2019s operational control center\u2014the \u201cbrain\u201d of the company\u2014where real-time data from more than 400 Mingyang wind farms were displayed on large screens.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Following the tour, a round-table discussion was held between SUSTech teachers and students and Mingyang\u2019s core engineers. Topics included the role and status of renewable energy under the \u201ccarbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality\u201d agenda, future directions for wind-power development, carbon-emissions trading, and China\u2019s CCER market. Associate Professor Zeng Zhenzhong from SUSTech presented his latest findings in global wind-resource assessment, and both sides explored potential collaborations in talent development and scientific research.<\/p>\n\t

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0During the return trip, Ye Bin, who also serves as the Party Branch Secretary of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, guided the students to the Sun Yat-sen Former Residence Memorial Museum. There, they paid tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen\u2019s immortal contributions to national independence, social progress and the well-being of the Chinese people. As members of the Chinese nation, they affirmed their duty to contribute to the great rejuvenation of China.<\/p>\n\t

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The activity broadened the students\u2019 academic horizons, integrated theoretical knowledge with practical experience, and incorporated ideological and political education.
